New Steps Towards Sustainable Transportation
The import of electric buses is considered part of Tehran Municipality's efforts to reduce air pollution and improve the quality of life for citizens. Given the increasing population and traffic in the capital, strengthening public transportation is of special importance. Mohammadkhani also pointed out the positive impacts of this program on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving the air quality in Tehran.
He added: "We aim to expand public transportation options by importing electric van taxis and provide better services to citizens. This action not only helps reduce pollution but also lowers transportation costs."
Ultimately, Tehran Municipality has planned to gradually shift its transportation fleet towards the use of clean and renewable energy, considering the existing challenges in public transportation and air pollution. This move could serve as a successful model for other cities as well.
