The non-cash subsidy for households whose head's national ID number ends with 7, 8, and 9 was charged today, Tuesday, November 5, 1405, to the accounts of these individuals. This action is part of the government's program to support households in difficult economic conditions and the rising inflation of essential goods.

Increase in Household Voucher Amount

Currently, over 87 million Iranians residing in the country are eligible to receive vouchers. After the removal of the preferential exchange rate of 28,500 tomans last January, the government announced that it has transferred this subsidy from the beginning of the production chain to the end of the chain, meaning to the consumers. The aim of this action was to prevent leakage of livelihood assistance.

The voucher amount for the fourth to ninth income brackets has increased from 350,000 tomans to one million tomans, and for the first to third brackets, it has reached 500,000 tomans. Given the rising inflation rate and the high prices of essential goods, this amount has not been able to meet the livelihood needs of households.

Economic Challenges and Removal of Subsidies

While many households are under severe economic pressure, the government intends to eliminate the vouchers for a group of Iranians again to secure funding for this increase. This decision is considered illogical by economists, especially in the inflationary conditions the country's economy is facing. They believe that removing minimal subsidies can severely negatively impact people's livelihoods and contradicts the government's slogan of ensuring the livelihood and sustenance of the people.

Given the current economic situation and rising living costs, many households hope that the government will make rational decisions and support their livelihoods to alleviate economic pressures. Meanwhile, many people view the voucher as an essential resource for meeting their daily needs.

In the end, it remains to be seen what measures the government will take to improve people's living conditions and whether it can remain faithful to its promises regarding livelihood provision.
