The head of Hakim Children's Hospital, Hassan Tavakoli, announced the opening of the first comprehensive diagnosis and treatment center for children's cancer. This center, aimed at providing specialized services and reducing treatment costs, has recently started its operations at Hakim Hospital. Statistics show that approximately 100,000 children worldwide lose their lives each year due to cancer, and the high treatment costs can put a lot of pressure on families.
Reduction of treatment costs to less than 10 million tomans
Tavakoli stated: "The cost of cancer treatment in the private sector is very high. For example, a 30-session course of radiotherapy in the non-governmental sector can cost around 800 million tomans for families with a child suffering from cancer; whereas in this center, with insurance coverage and the use of the capacities of the public healthcare system, the cost of this service is reduced to less than 10 million tomans." This reduction in costs can help families to treat their children with more peace of mind.

Advanced facilities of the comprehensive diagnosis and treatment center
The comprehensive diagnosis and treatment center for children's cancer, named after Dr. Aghighi, one of the veteran professors in the field of pediatrics, provides medical services across three floors. One of the floors has 14 chemotherapy beds, and a PET scan device is located on another floor, which plays a crucial role in diagnosing cancer and identifying organs affected by cancerous cells. Additionally, a linear accelerator for performing radiotherapy is also stationed at this center.
Tavakoli, referring to the recruitment of specialized doctors at this center, stated: "We have no issues in attracting specialized pediatric doctors, and the necessary specialized personnel are available. This center, as a public educational and therapeutic center, accepts patients from all over the country, and there are no restrictions regarding the patients' place of residence."
Under normal conditions, about 600 to 700 people visit the emergency department of Hakim Children's Hospital daily. This number can exceed a thousand during the cold seasons. Hakim Hospital is striving to ensure the health of this vulnerable group by providing specialized and super-specialized services to children suffering from various diseases.
