Hamid Fattahi, Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology for Communications, announced in his recent press conference a remarkable growth in the connection of various centers to fiber optics in the country. He stated that in recent years, the connection of schools to fiber optics has experienced a 1000 percent growth, which is considered a key step in enhancing the educational infrastructure of the country.
Growth in Other Areas
Fattahi also mentioned a 160 percent growth in the connection of health centers to fiber optics, a 370 percent growth in the connection of banking centers, and over 300 percent in the connection of administrative and governmental centers. Establishment of the Fiber Optic Development Fund
The Deputy Minister of Communications further referred to the establishment of the Fiber Optic Development Fund at the end of 1403. He explained that the financial resources related to this fund will be transferred from the ministry's account to eliminate legal barriers to providing incentives to operators. However, he acknowledged that ambiguities in the text of the law have still posed challenges, and they are continuously working to advance matters.
Fattahi also announced the approval of regulations that create conditions for fair competition and break monopolies for other license holders in the fiber optic service layer of the country. This decision mandates Iran Telecommunications Company to migrate from the copper network to the fiber optic infrastructure, which in turn will improve service quality and access to high-speed internet.
Consequences of High-Speed Internet Development
The development of high-speed internet and the connection of schools to fiber optics is particularly important in the current situation where online education and remote work have become part of daily life. With these infrastructures in place, students can have better access to online educational resources, thereby improving the quality of education in the country.
Additionally, with the improvement of communication infrastructure, new opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship in the field of information and communication technology will be created. These changes can significantly contribute to the country's economic growth and enhance public welfare.
