Hamed Bidi, an internet rights activist, pointed out the existing problems in fixed internet, especially the development of the fiber optic network, in an interview with the media. He stated that the user experience of the internet is not limited to the quality of access infrastructure, and filtering can hinder users from truly benefiting from high-speed internet.
Neglecting Free Access to the Internet
Bidi emphasized that the development of fiber optics does not necessarily mean an improvement in internet quality, asserting that if users still face access limitations, there will be no incentive to migrate to fixed internet. He said, "We must distinguish between network infrastructure and the internet itself," and added that fiber optics can also be used as infrastructure for the national information network.

Economic and Social Challenges for Users
Bidi further pointed to the economic and social barriers faced by users, stating, "Many citizens still do not have access to fiber optics, and the costs of setting up this service can be a significant barrier for them." He added that in many countries, fixed internet based on fiber has a price and quality advantage, but in Iran, these advantages are clearly lacking.
This activist also referred to the issue of diminishing user trust in the future of the internet, saying, "Many people, due to economic problems and constant relocations, are reluctant to purchase long-term internet packages." He also noted that frequent internet outages and existing filtering have increased distrust in operators.
Ultimately, Hamed Bidi emphasized that to attract users to fixed internet, especially fiber optics, lifting the filtering and ensuring free access to the internet is essential. He stated, "To improve internet quality, special attention must be paid to the issue of filtering and access limitations."
