Memories of War and Entrepreneurship
Seyyed Davood Hosseini, in his youth after migrating to Qom, experienced working as an apprentice in leather goods and in stone carving, and with the onset of the imposed war, he went to the front with a forged identity card. After the war, he, having lost two children, engaged in transporting goods with a Nissan truck and working as a laborer, ultimately establishing the Firuzabad rebar workshop and achieving financial independence.
In the narrative structure of "The Grief of Friends," Seyyed Davood Hosseini, in his old age, recounts several decades of his life among the younger generation and his children. This documentary offers a profound and human narrative of his life through historical reconstructions and documentary and archival sections. At the end of this documentary, returning to the present and metaphorically confronting his youth, it emphasizes concepts such as the authenticity of work, human dignity, lawful earnings, the connection between generations, and reliance in the face of the inevitability of poverty.
Saeed Sajadi, the director of this documentary, explained that the aim of this work is not merely to recount a biography; rather, it is to portray the concept of the dignity of work in contemporary Iranian history. This project, utilizing a combination of historical reconstruction techniques and in-depth interviews, strives to depict the connection between tradition and modernity in the character of the story's hero.
