Hojjatoleslam wal Muslimin Haj Ali Akbari, the speaker of the Friday prayer in Tehran, emphasized the importance of family and its impact on human social life, referring in this week's sermon to the cultural harms of modern Western culture. He stated that Western culture, by promoting indecency and immorality, has inflicted extensive damage on family foundations, and even Western societies are facing the consequences of this trend.

Family, Values, and Cultural Harms

Haj Ali Akbari criticized what he called "modern ignorance," saying: "This culture, by raising the flag of shamelessness and debauchery, has committed one of the greatest crimes against humanity." He pointed out that the creators of this culture have influenced the lives of many societies through the use of science and technology, adding that the sun of family in Western societies is setting, and many people in these societies are facing the consequences of family breakdown.

Social Issues and Divorce Consequences

The speaker of the Friday prayer in Tehran regarded marriage as a sacred matter and one of the most important human bonds, expressing concern over the decreasing willingness to form families in Western societies, saying: "Transient and commitment-free relationships are rapidly spreading." He also referred to the increase in divorce in these societies, stating that divorce has become a normal occurrence and the foundations of families that still exist are under threat. Haj Ali Akbari considered children as the main victims of this trend, stating: "Children growing up in unstable families face numerous problems and harms."

Iranian and Islamic Culture

Haj Ali Akbari, recalling the importance of family in Iranian and Islamic culture, said: "The Iranian nation has a prominent advantage called family and is recognized as a family-oriented and family-loving nation." He emphasized that this characteristic is a significant barrier against domination over the Iranian nation, noting that enemies are seeking to weaken the family foundation in Iran. He further referred to the role of family in the Islamic Revolution, stating: "The Islamic Revolution of Iran was a family revolution in which families played a significant role."

Haj Ali Akbari, referring to the presence of families in the Sacred Defense and their role in nurturing fighters and warriors, emphasized that "it was this family that made the Iranian nation victorious, and this victory was based on faith and nurtured in the houses of God and mosques." He noted the widespread presence of people in various revolutionary events as a sign of the deep emotional bonds among the people.
