Habibollah Sayyari, Chief of Staff and Deputy Coordinator of the Islamic Republic Army, mentioned the status of the Strait of Hormuz on the sidelines of a ceremony honoring army nurses. He clearly stated that this strait is closed, and if it were not, oil would pass through it and gasoline prices in the United States would not be rising.

Complete Control of the Strait of Hormuz

Sayyari further explained that the Navy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is stationed in the west of the Strait of Hormuz, and the Islamic Republic Army is present in the east of this strait and up to the north of the Sea of Oman. He claimed that Iranian forces exercise "one hundred percent control and oversight" over the area, and this clearly indicates that the Strait of Hormuz is closed.

Threats and Reactions

Sayyari also referred to Iran's attacks on ships in this area and said: "If any passage occurs, it must be coordinated; otherwise, you will see what happens in the news." He mentioned the threats of Ali Azmaei, the commander of the Navy of the IRGC, who stated that if U.S. warships approach the Strait of Hormuz, the IRGC forces will sink them.

Azmaei also addressed his claim about U.S. warships not daring to approach the Strait of Hormuz and described the U.S. Navy as "vulnerable." In response, the U.S. State Department dismissed these claims as incorrect and stated that the IRGC does not "have a navy" and that CENTCOM and their regional partners have complete control over the Strait of Hormuz.

Consequences of the Current Situation

The current situation of the Strait of Hormuz, as one of the most important strategic points in the world, is a sensitive and complex issue. This strait, which is one of the main routes for oil transportation, has currently become a point of tension and conflict. The closure of the strait could have widespread effects on oil prices and global energy security.

Given the importance of this issue, it is necessary for the international community to pay closer attention to regional developments to prevent potential crises. Especially in conditions where political and military tensions in the region have increased, any incorrect action or decision-making could have serious consequences for global stability.
