Ghasem Noudah Farahani, the head of the Iran Chamber of Guilds, announced that soon bread will be offered to the public by weight. This change is aimed at improving the quality of bread and providing transparency in its pricing. According to him, the weight of each loaf of bread will be 650 grams, and this action is in line with the responsibility of the Ministry of Interior as the authority in this area.

Details of the Weight-Based Bread Plan

Noudah Farahani further stated that the Consumer and Producer Protection Organization must conduct necessary assessments regarding the quality of bread and its production status before the implementation of this plan. The goal of these assessments is to ensure the delivery of quality bread that does not become doughy to consumers.

He emphasized that the Ministry of Interior will officially announce this plan by early November. In this new method, the price of bread will be calculated based on its weight, and customers will be able to purchase bread based on weight rather than quantity. Therefore, equipping bakeries with digital scales and displaying information related to the weight and price of bread for customers is among the anticipated requirements.

Benefits of the Plan and Its Implementation Stages

The head of the Iran Chamber of Guilds also noted that implementing this weight-based plan could reduce the potential for underweight selling and increase transparency in bread distribution. In the first phase, this plan will be implemented for Sangak bread and state-run bakeries, and in subsequent phases, other types of bread will also be included.

These changes in the method of bread distribution are considered a positive step towards improving the bread market conditions and increasing customer satisfaction. Given that bread is one of the most important food items on people's tables, these changes could have a positive impact on individuals' daily lives.

Finally, Noudah Farahani stated that the price of bread has been determined in a working group with the presence of parliament representatives and authorities in this field, emphasizing the need for transparency in bread distribution. Thus, consumers can make their purchases with greater confidence.
