Germany, as one of the central countries in Europe, is now on the brink of a serious crisis. The rising tensions between Russia and NATO have prompted German officials to swiftly implement emergency plans to deal with any potential incidents. Hospitals in the country have been instructed to prepare plans and drills for mass casualty events.

Concerns Over Russian Military Mobilization

European officials, particularly in Germany, have recently expressed concern that Russia may initiate a large-scale mobilization of forces following the recent parliamentary elections. Estimates suggest that the country may recruit around 300,000 new troops by the end of 2026. Donald Tusk, the Prime Minister of Poland, has also referred to the consensus of European intelligence agencies, speculating that Russia may launch missile and drone attacks on NATO countries in the eastern flank in the coming months.

Germany Becomes a Center for Treating the Wounded

According to estimates from the German armed forces, in the event of conflict in the Baltic region, up to 1,000 wounded NATO soldiers may be transferred to Germany daily. Therefore, hospitals in the country must prepare to receive the injured. German officials, emphasizing the inadequacy of the current healthcare system's preparedness, are working to improve conditions to cope with potential scenarios. This action clearly reflects the serious concerns of German officials regarding the escalation of tensions and the possibility of military conflicts.

Last month, an explosive-laden drone was discovered at Leipzig Airport in Germany. This airport is recognized as an important logistical center for shipments related to Ukraine and NATO. Following investigations, the German government accused Russia of conducting hybrid operations, with Alexander Dobrindt, Germany's Minister of the Interior, quoted as saying that these attacks represent Berlin's hybrid war with Russia.

Russia's Reactions to Germany's Accusations

Russia has reacted strongly to these accusations, with Vladimir Putin, the President of the country, stating that Germany is attempting to divert public attention from its internal problems by blaming Russia. Sergey Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, has also described Germany's accusations as "the beginning of a real war" and believes that Germany's actions are reminiscent of the start of World War II.

The relationship between Germany and Russia, which was previously based on trade and energy dependence, has severely deteriorated after the Ukraine war and has now reached a point where both sides are in sharp confrontation. With the rise of Friedrich Merz as Chancellor of Germany, the country's defense and military policies have significantly changed, and the relationship between the two countries has reached its lowest point since the Cold War.

While Europe is deeply concerned about the threats from Russia, the question remains whether these concerns are real and serious or merely projections and exaggerations from the West. It seems that the more real danger is the gradual escalation of tensions and the possibility of an incident that could lead to broader conflicts.
