Mohsen Hormizi, the Deputy of Transportation and Traffic of Tehran's Mayor, announced the arrival of electric metro buses in the capital and emphasized that this project is aimed at enhancing the quality of public transportation for citizens. According to him, the sixth urban management has made significant efforts over the past five years to improve the public transportation situation.
Status of Buses and Revitalization of the Wagon Manufacturing Factory
Hormizi explained the status of Tehran's bus fleet, stating that at the end of the fourth term, four thousand buses were handed over to the urban management, but by the end of the fifth term and the beginning of the sixth, this number had decreased to 860. In contrast, currently, 2,500 new buses have been delivered to citizens, of which 510 are electric.

He also referred to the status of the Tehran wagon manufacturing factory, stating that this factory was closed at the beginning of the sixth term and faced many problems. However, with the actions taken during the current term, this factory has been revitalized, and two national train sets have been delivered to Tehran. Currently, five more train sets are under construction, three of which will be delivered by the end of the year.
Development of Metro Lines and East Terminal
The Deputy Mayor of Tehran pointed out the status of the metro lines, stating that in September 2021, the metro lines were incomplete, and the stations of line 6 were opened in an isolated manner. However, now all seven metro lines have been completed, and new projects have also begun. Additionally, the Parand metro project has been fully completed and delivered to the people.
Regarding the East Terminal, Hormizi said that at the end of the fifth term, this terminal had turned into a waste storage facility. In the current term, this terminal has been renovated and transformed into the country's first smart terminal, which is now operational.
Updating Technical Inspection Centers
Hormizi also referred to the status of technical inspection centers, stating that all of them were outdated and had unusable equipment, which caused problems in conducting tests. However, in the current term, the technical inspection equipment has been updated, and 11 mobile lines have also been launched. Additionally, the third emissions inventory for the year 2025 has been published.
With these developments, it is hoped that the quality of public transportation in Tehran will improve, and citizens will benefit from better services.
