Donald Trump, the President of the United States, met yesterday in Washington with Kirill Dmitriev, the Russian envoy and negotiator. This meeting, according to Trump, was in response to reporters' questions and indicated new efforts to reach an agreement regarding the war in Ukraine.
A Major Agreement is on the Way
The President of the United States referred to a "major agreement" during this meeting, which he stated would not only affect Ukraine but could also impact all of Europe. Trump also mentioned that "everyone will be happy," without providing further details about the content of this agreement.

At the same time, Trump emphasized that he did not meet with Ukrainian representatives who had traveled to Washington. This issue has faced criticism from Kyiv, as Ukrainian officials have repeatedly expressed dissatisfaction with their lack of direct participation in the negotiations.
Melania Trump's Support for a Ceasefire
On the same day, Melania Trump, the First Lady of the United States, hosted representatives from Moscow and Kyiv at the White House. In this meeting, she supported a lasting ceasefire in Ukraine and referred to the six-day ceasefire in the city of Olshki, which could serve as a model for future ceasefires.
The ceasefire in Olshki is recognized as the longest ceasefire in the four-and-a-half-year war of Russia against Ukraine. This ceasefire sparked new discussions about achieving peace just one day after it ended.
As part of ongoing efforts to reach peace, a trilateral negotiation between representatives of Kyiv, Moscow, and Washington is scheduled for next week in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates.
Security Talks in Brussels
Alongside these developments in Washington, American officials in Brussels also held discussions with representatives from Ukraine, NATO, and European partners regarding security guarantees. Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law and envoy, reported on constructive and fundamental discussions regarding the security structure of Europe and emphasized that any agreement must respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries.
Kushner pointed out the necessity of not having a veto right for other countries over sovereign decisions and stressed that NATO will remain at the core of collective defense in Europe.
