Cristiano Ronaldo, the football legend of Portugal, made a controversial statement about the events following his departure from the national team's camp and spoke about his decision to be punished. In this meeting, he shared details about his conversation with the national team's coach, Jorge Jesus, as well as his feelings towards Portuguese fans.

Revealing Details About the Reasons for Departure

Ronaldo initially explained that after the 2026 World Cup, he wrote a letter to the people of Portugal in which he described his feelings and thoughts regarding his final farewell from the national team. He said: "I have always wanted to be transparent and honest with my fans about my decisions."

He emphasized that after the matches, the president of the Portuguese Football Federation asked him to reconsider his decision to leave and requested to continue working with him. Ronaldo also referred to Jesus's decisions regarding the national team's coaching and expressed his happiness about Jesus's selection.

Apologizing to Fans and Accepting Responsibility

Furthermore, Ronaldo detailed the game against Wales and explained that after being substituted, he did not cause any problems and handed the captain's armband to Bruno Fernandes. He stated: "The team's victory was more important to me than anything else, and that is why I distanced myself from the fans. This was a mistake for which I fully accept responsibility and I apologize to the fans."

Ronaldo also mentioned his meeting with Jorge Jesus and stated that the meeting was an agreement to end the recent controversies. He explained that Jesus was supposed to address the truth in a press conference that he never asked Jesus to play for a few minutes in the camp.

This Portuguese star concluded by calling for the Portuguese Football Federation to review his behavior. He said: "I should be punished for my behavior, and this punishment should not include any mitigating factors. I am the team captain, and this should be viewed as an aggravating factor."

Ronaldo emphasized at the end that an apology is not enough, and the consequences of behaviors should be taken into account. He said: "I am not an ordinary player, and I must be responsible in this situation."
