The creation of 14 kilometers of special lanes for motorcycles in Tehran is an important step towards organizing the traffic of this vehicle in the capital. Pouria Alimardani, the CEO of the Tehran Transport and Traffic Organization, announced the start of this plan and emphasized the importance of law compliance by motorcyclists.
Details of the new plan
In the first phase of this plan, a network of approximately 14 kilometers is planned on certain highways leading to the center of Tehran. Law-abiding motorcyclists who wear helmets and have readable and undamaged license plates can use these lanes. Alimardani also mentioned that electric motorcycles are prioritized in this plan.

Trial implementation on Mohalati Highway
This special lane has been created on a trial basis on Mohalati Highway, and necessary arrangements for its control and management are underway. Mohalati Highway is directly connected to the market, and a significant portion of its traffic is dedicated to motorcycles. Considering that motorcycle movement on highways is prohibited in Iran, this plan is designed to organize their traffic.
Alimardani also noted that, God willing, this plan will gradually be implemented on other targeted highways, especially those leading to the center of Tehran and the central city area. However, the creation of these lanes will be carried out in areas where the plan can be implemented and where there is sufficient capacity and demand for the special motorcycle lane.
This plan can play an important role in reducing traffic and increasing the safety of motorcyclists, and especially with the increase in the use of electric motorcycles, it can help preserve the environment. However, compliance with laws and regulations by motorcyclists is essential for the success of this plan.
