France reported today, Friday, receiving four new bomb threats against airplanes flying in its airspace. These threats quickly led to the suspension and inspection of several flights across Europe, challenging flight security.

Bomb Threats in the Czech Republic

The police of the Czech Republic also announced that they received anonymous threats regarding bombings on 9 airplanes today. These flights have been suspended due to these threats and are currently under inspection. This emergency situation quickly spread to other European countries, causing chaos in European skies.

Unprecedented Incident in Air Traffic

On Thursday, a KLM flight from the Netherlands heading to Tel Aviv was targeted by a bomb threat. This flight, which had landed for a scheduled stop in Bucharest, faced a similar threat among at least 15 other European passenger flights. European airline managers deemed this incident unprecedented, and the Dutch counter-terrorism office reacted to it.

A KLM spokesperson stated that this flight departed from Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam at 16:40 local time and responded to the bomb threat at 19:30 Central European Time. Romanian authorities also confirmed this incident, stating that passengers and crew disembarked in Bucharest for necessary inspections.

Increased Threats and Concerns

On Friday, at least 14 other passenger flights in Europe also faced bomb threats. These threats, which have occurred intermittently throughout the week, have caused serious concerns among passengers and airlines. So far, no explosives have been found in any of these incidents.

The Dutch counter-terrorism office announced that the origin of these threats is still unknown. A spokesperson for this agency said, "The number of bomb threats in such a short period is significant and has drawn special attention from the counter-terrorism office." He also added that airlines have special procedures to deal with these reports, and such threats are always taken seriously.

Impacts on Various Flights

Benjamin Smith, CEO of Air France-KLM, noted on Thursday that this week has been exceptional, and he has never witnessed the use of bomb threats to disrupt air traffic in this manner. According to him, these actions appear to be coordinated, and this is a new development.

One of the flights affected by the threats was an Aer Lingus flight from Dublin to Rome, which was rerouted to a military base in Euro under the escort of the French Air Force. Additionally, a Finnair flight from Helsinki to Rome was also escorted by the Italian Air Force to the airport.

Moreover, several other flights, including a Wizz Air flight from Milan to Warsaw, were rerouted to Vienna due to the bomb threat and continued their journey after inspection. Overall, bomb threats in several European countries, including Belgium, Romania, and Bulgaria, led to rerouting and emergency landings of flights.

Ultimately, European police announced that all necessary security measures have been taken in response to these threats, and although these threats do not appear to be credible, passenger safety remains a priority.
