Colonel Kamiar Chehri announced the arrest of 730 fences over the past two days, emphasizing that this operation was aimed at combating buyers of stolen goods and limiting the avenues for buying and selling these items throughout the country. Since early October of this year, a nationwide campaign against fences has been initiated, during which 593 cases of stolen goods have also been discovered.
Details of the Operation and Its Results
During this campaign, police officers visited 2,026 commercial units to monitor their activities and combat the buying and selling of suspicious goods. Additionally, 391 closure warnings were issued, demonstrating the police's serious commitment to addressing violations in this area. Colonel Chehri pointed out that the buying and selling of stolen goods not only infringes on citizens' rights but also allows thieves to continue their activities, stressing the need to identify and confront fences.
Warning to Buyers and the Role of Public Cooperation
Colonel Chehri warned buyers of goods that when purchasing items, especially second-hand ones, they must ensure the legality of their origin. He added: "Buyers should avoid purchasing items without valid documentation or those with unusual prices, as ignorance of the true origin of the goods does not absolve the buyer of legal responsibility." This warning means that everyone should be vigilant against buying suspicious items and act in the interest of the community.
The Deputy for Theft Combat of the FaraJa Police urged the public to report any suspicious cases of buying and selling stolen goods through official channels. He also emphasized that effective combat against theft requires public cooperation and their abstention from purchasing items with unknown origins.
This police operation demonstrates the serious commitment and ongoing efforts of this institution to maintain security and peace in society. Given the increase in thefts, such actions can help reduce the motivations for theft and raise public awareness in this regard.
