Yemeni armed forces achieved a new military advance on Sunday in the fronts of Lahij province located in southern Yemen, allowing them to gain control over a vast area overlooking the Gulf of Aden. This advance enables Yemeni forces to monitor and target Israeli movements in the separatist region known as "Somaliland."
Advancement in Strategic Heights
According to received information, Yemeni forces have infiltrated the "Tor al-Baha" area and have come closer to the coastal strip between "Khour Amira" and the south of "Bab al-Mandab." With the consolidation of control over the heights of Al-Mudharabah, Ras al-Arah, and Tor al-Baha, the "Karash" front is poised for collapse as a key point. These developments have created a new military reality in the front lines of Lahij province, northwest of Aden.

The entry into "Tor al-Baha" coincided with the collapse of the "Fourth Brigade," a unit affiliated with the Islah Party under the command of "Abu Bakr al-Jabouli." Reports indicate that dozens of military vehicles belonging to al-Jabouli's forces have abandoned their positions and are exiting the area. These developments occurred following the advance of Ansar Allah forces from the axes of "Haifan" and "Al-Maqatirah," which led to the encirclement of several battalions supported by Saudi Arabia and the capture of approximately 100 modern military vehicles.
Military and Political Impacts on the Region
These developments have also put the military base "Al-Anad" at risk. Military sources in Aden have reported that Saudi forces have ordered the "Homeland Shield" (Dir' al-Watan) units stationed at this base to reposition and move their heavy weapons toward Aden. In the past two days, Saudi officers have been overseeing the removal of significant amounts of modern weapons from the Al-Anad base.
Forces allied with Sanaa have taken full control of the western areas of Lahij province located on the outskirts of Aden after conducting a large-scale operation. The advancing units from the west of "Al-Maqatirah" joined other units and moved toward the center of "Tor al-Baha" by passing through the eastern sections of "Al-Mudharabah" and "Ras al-Arah." The consolidation of Ansar Allah's control over these areas will strengthen this group's dominance over the maritime corridor from the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden.
In this context, voices from the south have called for the withdrawal of Salafi factions stationed in the southern region of "Bab al-Mandab." Protesters in Aden have urged Saudi Arabia to withdraw its affiliated forces and refrain from militarizing the city. These requests have been accompanied by nightly protests in Aden.
Meanwhile, the Islah Party has accused the Southern Transitional Council of colluding with Ansar Allah. These accusations have intensified following armed ambushes against forces aligned with Saudi Arabia. Unknown gunmen attacked a military convoy belonging to the "Homeland Shield" forces in "Abyan" province, resulting in the death of the brigade commander, Brigadier General "Mohammad Ahmed al-Humaqani," and five other officers.
Military analysts have warned of the dangers posed by the advance of forces allied with Ansar Allah toward Aden. "Ali al-Nasi," one of these analysts, has stated that southern forces allied with Saudi Arabia are at risk and must quickly strengthen their positions on the outskirts of Aden.
