Alireza Zakani, the Mayor of Tehran, during a meeting with the trustees of Tajrish neighborhood held at the Hemmat Mosque in District 1, stated the importance of the Islamic Revolution, saying: "The Islamic Revolution revealed the two powers of 'religion' and 'people', and Imam Khomeini's (RA) art was to create a connection between these two powers."
The Role of People in Urban Management
Zakani noted that the Iranian nation has two critical missions; first, to move towards the preparation for the emergence and realization of religious goals, and second, to create an efficient, effective, and growth-oriented model called Islamic Iran. He continued: "To build this model, we need a starting point, and we have designated Tehran, Shamirān, and Rey as the starting point of this movement. The feature of Tehran is that if a model is created in this city, it will quickly have the capability to replicate across the country."

Zakani emphasized the position of the people in urban management, stating: "The people are our benefactors, and they must take responsibility within the community. Our perspective is to increase satisfaction and hope in society through service provision."
Management Changes and Services to the People
The Mayor of Tehran referred to the performance of urban management in recent years and said: "We have been part of the Tehran Municipality for about five years and 15 days, and during this time, we have tried to act with a civilizational perspective in our area of responsibility."
Zakani further added: "In this path, we have set four transformations as our agenda, the first of which was 'physical transformation' to help Tehran transition from its past conditions and reduce its obstacles and problems."
He also pointed out the contracts signed during the recent period of urban management, stating: "Thanks to God, about 10 to 11 billion dollars' worth of contracts are being executed in Tehran; these actions mean shortening the time gap and accelerating the provision of services to the people."
Zakani, regarding other focal points of urban management, expressed: "Our focus is that with the accountability and rules we pursue in urban management, we do not allow the burden on the people to remain unaddressed."
Reducing People's Livelihood and Health Concerns
He continued to discuss significant efforts in the area of people's livelihood, stating: "With the arrangements made, a significant initiative is to be followed so that people feel price stability for at least six months in some goods and can alleviate part of the livelihood pressures."
Zakani also considered health as one of the serious and fundamental issues, saying: "In coordination with the esteemed government, it has been decided that health will be pursued in six locations in Tehran; both in the areas of health and treatment, so that after a successful experience, we can develop this model throughout Tehran."
Regarding the housing situation in Tehran, he stated: "Tehran is short of about 900,000 housing units, and 51% of households live in rental homes. The cost of rent constitutes a significant portion of many households' monthly income, and this situation requires reform and change in the existing foundations."
In conclusion, Zakani emphasized the necessity of cooperation and solidarity between the people and the government, stating: "The important thing is that we come together, move towards unity and integrity, fulfill our essential duties, and remain active and impactful under the command of the Supreme Leader."
