The acceleration of the renovation of dilapidated areas in southwest Tehran, especially in model neighborhoods, was the main goal of the recent meeting of urban management and the Renovation Organization of Tehran Municipality. In this meeting, the indicators for identifying dilapidated areas such as fragmentation, impermeability, and instability were reviewed, and the actions taken in this regard were assessed positively.
The Necessity of Accelerating the Renovation of Dilapidated Areas
Reza Mohammadi, emphasizing the necessity of accelerating the renovation of dilapidated areas, stated: "The existing capacities in model neighborhoods should be transformed into executive programs to expedite the renovation process, with the focus on urban management and the technical, facilitative, and financial support of the Renovation Organization." He also expressed hope that, with the cooperation of the Renovation Organization of Tehran Municipality, some of the concerns of citizens regarding unsafe areas would be addressed, and the groundwork for enhancing the sustainability of dilapidated areas would be provided.

Support of the Renovation Organization for Regional Projects
Kamalizadeh, the CEO of the Renovation Organization of Tehran Municipality, also emphasized the pivotal role of the district mayor in advancing renovation plans, saying: "The Renovation Organization will be alongside the district municipality for the better execution of projects and will cooperate in securing and managing the necessary resources." He also proposed appointing an executive secretary alongside the district mayor to strengthen coordination between the municipality, the Renovation Organization, and the Urban Planning and Architecture Department.
Kamalizadeh added: "If necessary, there is a possibility to strengthen the facilitation offices in the region to expedite communication with property owners and follow up on renovation matters." He also referred to the follow-up on the issue of sand pits in District 18 and obtaining and announcing the resolution of the Article 5 Commission, considering this action as a groundwork for the implementation of subsequent programs in this area.
The CEO of the Renovation Organization of Tehran Municipality emphasized that the share of the Renovation Organization from the projects executed in the area will be allocated back to the same area so that the resources obtained from these actions are spent on the development and renovation of dilapidated areas. This action demonstrates the determination and will of urban management to address the problems of dilapidated areas and enhance the quality of life for citizens in these regions.
