Abdolmahtab Mohammadkhani, spokesperson for the Tehran Municipality, at a press conference yesterday, detailed the latest actions and programs of urban management and answered journalists' questions on various topics. He noted the impacts of the recent war in Tehran, reporting 653 cases of strikes during the 40-day war, adding that this number represents a 500% increase compared to the 12-day war.

Assistance to War Victims

Mohammadkhani stated that during the Ramadan war, 1,265 people were martyred and 41,000 residential units suffered minor damage. In this context, 3,600 families were accommodated in hotels, of which nearly 3,200 stayed in hotels for more than 48 hours. 46 hotels provided services to families during this period, and 49,200 residential units also required minor to moderate repairs, which have now been completed.

Zero Inflation Plan

Mohammadkhani referred to the Zero Inflation Plan, stating that this plan is dedicated to Tehran citizens, and the government and Tehran Municipality hope that with a special directive from the President, this plan will be extended to other cities as well. He clarified that according to the latest statistics, 9.6 million people reside in Tehran, and the identification of citizens will be conducted based on existing systems and registration in the Shahrzad super application. Those left out can benefit from this plan by registering their national ID and postal code.

Integrated Urban Management

The spokesperson for the Tehran Municipality also discussed integrated urban management, stating that over the past 5 years, the municipality has proactively and voluntarily engaged and accepted issues related to integrated management. He added: "This model of accountability greatly aids integrated urban management, and we hope to reach a final point with the cooperation of parliamentary representatives."

Mohammadkhani further emphasized that in wartime and under sanctions, the municipality must redefine its duties and assist the government. He stated that the Zero Inflation Plan is working capital, and the municipality directly purchases and sells, generating income immediately after purchase.

Working Capital and Financing

The spokesperson for the Tehran Municipality also referred to the financing of the Zero Inflation Plan, stating that this plan is an economic model suitable for sanctions and economic blockade. He explained that part of the financing is done as working capital, and the spent amount is re-spent to maintain the financial circulation in this matter.

In conclusion, Mohammadkhani stated that the Tehran Municipality is working to increase the number of fruit and vegetable markets for the Zero Inflation Plan to 200 markets, prioritizing the central and southern areas of the city. He also announced that a model for compensating damages to affected buses is being prepared so that the people of Tehran do not suffer losses.
