Abdolfazl Mortazavi, an economic expert, in a recent conversation with Amir Hossein Kakayi, a university professor and automotive industry expert, explored the reasons and consequences of luxury car imports in Iran and their impact on national production. The two experts pointed to serious challenges in the automotive production sector due to current policies and the constant changes in the country's management structure.
Challenges of Economic Policies
Mortazavi mentioned the ongoing changes in economic policies during this discussion and stated, "These changes prevent strategic decision-making for national production." He added that instability in economic decisions has led automakers to refrain from investing in long-term projects and being unable to produce quality cars that meet market needs.
Luxury Car Imports and Their Impact on the Market
Amir Hossein Kakayi also addressed the topic of luxury car imports and emphasized that this trend not only does not benefit consumers but also seriously harms national production. He said, "Luxury car imports only lead to increased expectations in society and, in return, put pressure on domestic automakers." According to Kakayi, this situation gradually causes domestic producers to fall out of competition and the market to shift towards imports.
The two experts also highlighted the necessity of reforming economic policies and supporting domestic production. Mortazavi stated in this regard, "If the government does not pay attention to supporting national production and strengthening the infrastructure of the automotive industry, we will witness the continuation of this crisis."
Social and Economic Consequences
Luxury car imports not only have negative effects on the automotive industry but also carry social consequences. With the rising prices of domestic cars and the unavailability of quality vehicles, economic pressure on families will increase. Kakayi mentioned in this regard, "This situation can lead to social dissatisfaction and a decrease in public trust in the government."
As a result, luxury car imports are not only an economic challenge but also a social crisis that requires a swift response and effective solutions from officials.
