Abdol-Motahar Mohammadi Khani, the spokesperson for Tehran Municipality, responded to rumors regarding the dismissal of 350 waste management employees that had been raised. He firmly stated: "The original news is completely false" and emphasized that instead of dismissals, all efforts are aimed at converting the contracts of these employees into more stable contracts.

Emphasis on Job Stability for Employees

Mohammadi Khani highlighted the importance of retaining human resources in the waste management organization, clarifying that the municipality is seeking to strengthen and stabilize the employment status of these workers. He added: "People's work should not be left undone" and stressed that the continuation of these employees' activities is very vital.

Urban Management Challenges and the Importance of Interaction

During the meeting, Mohammadi Khani referred to the request from some city council members for a one-day presence of district managers during visits, stating that such an action might lead to neglecting urgent issues and needs of the people. He noted that if all 21 council members engage district managers for a full day, there would be no opportunity left to address the people's affairs.

These statements come at a time when many citizens of Tehran are concerned about urban services and waste management in recent days. Mohammadi Khani emphasized that the municipality is working to improve the quality of services, stating: "Our forces are on the front lines of serving the people, and we will spare no effort to support them."

Efforts for Transparency and Accountability

The municipality spokesperson also pointed out the importance of transparency in informing about the municipality's activities, saying: "Rumors and false news can harm public trust." He urged the media to be more careful in covering news and emphasized that the municipality is always ready to respond to citizens' and media inquiries.

However, urban management challenges and the need for effective actions in waste management remain in the spotlight, and Mohammadi Khani promised that these issues will remain on the municipality's agenda. He expressed hope that with more collaboration and interaction between council members and urban managers, better results could be achieved and ultimately better services provided to citizens.
