Abbas Araghchi, the Iranian Foreign Minister, met with officials in China on Wednesday and referred to Xi Jinping's four-point proposal for Middle East security as the "four principles of peace." Araghchi highlighted the importance of this proposal for the future of the region during his successful consultations with Iran's partners.
Four Principles of Peace Proposal
The four-point proposal that Xi Jinping presented during his recent meeting with Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, the President of Egypt, calls on regional countries to "take control of their own future" and move away from dependence on U.S. support. This proposal also emphasizes the necessity to focus on resolving the "core issue of the Middle East," namely Palestine, and refers to economic development and increased international coordination based on the UN Charter and international law.

China's Role in Resolving Disputes
Wang Yi, the Chinese Foreign Minister, during his meeting with Araghchi, described the current state of the region as indicative of the existing flaws in the Middle East security architecture and announced China's readiness to play a constructive role in resolving international disputes and supporting "Iran's legitimate rights and interests." Meanwhile, Araghchi mentioned in an English message that the decisions to be made during this trip would impact the future strategic balance in the region.
Araghchi also discussed the latest regional developments with Hakan Fidan, the Turkish Foreign Minister, and Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan. He emphasized the importance of the strategic partnership between Iran and China, stating that Iran seeks to resolve issues through diplomacy.
This trip comes amid speculation about Xi Jinping's lack of attention to his Iranian counterpart in recent meetings. Additionally, Beijing has recently denied reports regarding the provision of satellite images of military bases to Iran prior to an attack on a U.S. military base in Jordan.
At the end of his trip to China, Araghchi emphasized Iran's desire to maintain calm and continue diplomatic negotiations, stating that Iran has reached an agreement with Oman to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
