Cognitive neuroscience researchers, led by Saeideh Sadeghi, have explored rare and intriguing information related to the topic of reincarnation. These studies analyzed data from the largest database concerning children who claim to remember the life of another individual. The results of these studies indicate that the more unexpected the death of the past individual, the surprisingly shorter the interval between their death and the birth of the child.

Research Results and the Strange Pattern

In this study published in the journal "Consciousness Psychology: Theory, Research, and Practice," out of 1,678 examined cases, 1,319 had temporal data. The results show that the median "time interval" between the death of the individual and the birth of the child in these cases was 16 months. However, in cases where death occurred unexpectedly, such as accidents or medical crises, this interval was significantly shorter. In fact, in unexpected deaths, the median interval drops to 12 months, while in predictable deaths, this number reaches 21 months, indicating a reduction of about 43 percent.

Deeper Analyses and Cultural Dimensions

Analysts emphasize that this pattern remains consistent even when controlling for various factors such as the quality of verified information and religious beliefs. Philip Coutsolino, a social psychologist at the University of Virginia, points out that the effect of this phenomenon is even stronger in families that do not believe in reincarnation. These findings do not necessarily mean that reincarnation occurs, but they indicate the existence of a significant pattern in this phenomenon.

According to cultural beliefs, sudden or premature death in Hindu, Buddhist, and Native American traditions can influence the motivation for rebirth. In these cultures, sudden deaths create a closer connection to the world of the living. However, it is unclear whether these beliefs directly affect reports of "past life memories" or not.

Saeideh Sadeghi further clarifies that the data are observational and the exact mechanism of this phenomenon has not yet been determined. She believes that this pattern cannot be simply explained by cultural and psychological factors and requires further research for a better understanding.
