Mohsen Barahani, in a note titled "The University Between Two Edges," examined the current situation of universities and students in Iran. He warned students to be vigilant so that no voices of joy for the enemy rise from the university atmosphere.
Guiding Elites in Historical Turning Points
Barahani emphasized that the university has always played a significant role in historical turning points, and this time the country is at one of its most sensitive historical junctures. He pointed to the dangers posed by enemies threatening Iran and said: "The enemies of this land, after failing in their aggression against the country, are now looking to the internal situation with hope."
This university professor emphasized that calm in the university can send a clear message to the invading enemies, adding: "It is a fundamental obligation for everyone to avoid any confrontation, conflict, or gathering." He stated that the right of students to protest and gather only makes sense when the territorial integrity of Iran is not under threat.
Effects of Gatherings on the University Atmosphere
Barahani also referred to two groups seeking to create tension in universities. The first group consists of internal extremists who are looking to settle scores with the university and the Ministry of Science, wanting to prove their analyses by creating tension. The second group consists of unpatriotic individuals who advocate for foreign intervention and only seek unrest and insecurity in the university environment.
This university professor mentioned the efforts made to maintain calm in universities and said: "The calm atmosphere of the university allows for the return of suspended students, and unrest not only negates this possibility but also endangers students who are on the verge of suspension."
Barahani concluded by emphasizing that the vast majority of students have no inclination towards these two destructive currents and will separate their path from the line of untimely extremists with the reopening of universities. He urged academics to be vigilant in these sensitive circumstances and not to allow rightful protests to lead to adverse outcomes.
