Mehdi Babaei, Head of the Safety Committee of the Islamic City Council of Tehran, announced in a press conference that the number of fires in Tehran has decreased by 8% in the first half of 1405. This reduction reflects the positive impact of safety and disaster management programs in the city, which have been particularly emphasized in recent years.
Increased Disaster Management Budget
Babaei pointed out that 21% of the indicators and provisions of the fourth four-year program of the municipality are dedicated to safety and disaster management, explaining that this indicates the serious commitment of the municipality to improve safety conditions in the capital. He also added that the budget for this sector has significantly increased compared to the beginning of the urban management period.

Implementation Programs and Their Impact on Fire Reduction
The Head of the Safety Committee of the Islamic City Council of Tehran continued that this decrease in fires is due to the implementation of various programs designed for the prevention and management of incidents. These programs include public training, improvement of safety infrastructure, and increasing firefighting equipment. Babaei emphasized that cooperation among various organizations, including the fire department, municipality, and other agencies, has played a key role in achieving these results.
He noted that although an 8% decrease in fires is considered a success, there is still a need for further efforts in this area. Babaei stressed the necessity of continuing these programs and also increasing citizens' awareness regarding safety.
Challenges and Opportunities in the Safety Sector
The Head of the Safety Committee of the Islamic City Council of Tehran further referred to the existing challenges in the safety sector, stating: "Although positive actions have been taken, we still face many challenges. One of these challenges is the lack of sufficient awareness among some citizens about fire prevention methods." He added that educational and promotional programs must continue regularly so that citizens are familiar with up-to-date information in this area.
According to Babaei, one of the main goals of urban management is to enhance the safety of citizens and reduce the risks arising from fires and other incidents. In this regard, he urged citizens to cooperate more with the relevant authorities and to promptly inform officials of any danger or problem they observe.
Finally, Babaei expressed hope for the continued trend of fire reduction in Tehran, emphasizing that this success is only possible with the cooperation and collaboration of all institutions and citizens. He noted: "Safety is not just a responsibility; it is a collective duty that we all must adhere to."
