31 million and 500 thousand people have declared their readiness in the "Janfada" campaign; a population that, according to Sasan Zare, the spokesperson for this campaign, is set to move beyond the registration and declaration of readiness phase and enter the training and organization phase. Zare announced in his press conference the beginning of training for a thousand popular resistance battalions; a plan that, in addition to defensive training, will also include social, rescue, and cultural capacities.
A picture beyond militarism
According to the provided statistics, 32 percent of the registrants are women and 68 percent are men, with over 60 percent of participants being under 46 years old. This indicates that a significant portion of this population consists of young people who have declared their readiness to do something for Iran.
The Janfada statistics do not only provide a military picture of the volunteers. Based on available information, 26 percent of registrants have declared readiness for military and security activities, 20 percent for rescue and assistance to victims, and another 20 percent for social activities. Additionally, 17 percent have declared readiness for cultural, artistic, and media fields, and 13 percent for ongoing financial support.
Diversity in the level and type of participation
According to Zare, even the amount of time people have set aside for participation is specified in the registration data. Based on the statistics, 27 percent of participants can engage for several hours every day, 17 percent up to three days a week, and 18 percent can only participate on weekends. 34 percent have also stated that they will enter the field during a crisis. This means that not everyone is expected to participate in this popular network in the same way and with the same amount of time.
The next phase has now begun. Zare announced the first national Janfada operation titled training and organizing a thousand national popular resistance battalions. The training has been designed according to the conditions of today's wars and includes topics such as general preparedness, local security, surveillance, and some training related to equipment and rescue.
Zare also referred to the presence of women in military training, stating that separate battalions have been planned for them. It is intended that alongside training centers, accompanying training teams will also be active to bring training to schools, organizations, and complexes upon request.
The speed of the reception for the first phase of organization was also another noteworthy point. Zare announced that the registration system became available at 5 PM yesterday, and the initial capacity of the battalions was filled in less than 100 minutes. After that, registration continued, but applicants who registered after the initial capacity was filled have been placed on a waiting list. Additionally, a special battalion for media personnel will be formed.
On the other hand, part of the campaign's capacity is being identified and organized in neighborhoods, and small cultural, social, and media groups are also set to form. This is while individuals who have declared that they can provide road construction machinery or infrastructure facilities to rescue teams and responsible forces in the event of a crisis are also among the registrants.
