Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, has made an urgent request for assistance from Donald Trump, the President of the United States, in a critical situation. This request comes in the wake of ongoing Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure and highlights the severe shortage of Patriot air defense missiles in the country.
Russian Attacks and the Shortage of Air Defense Missiles
In the latest Russian attack on Kyiv and other regions of Ukraine, many Russian ballistic missiles reached their targets due to a lack of interceptor missiles. This attack, which targeted power plants in Kyiv and energy infrastructure in Kharkiv, shows that the Ukrainian Air Force is consuming its last reserves of Patriot missiles. Volodymyr Zelensky had previously stated that Ukraine has only one-tenth of the interceptor missiles it needs.

International Pressures and the Need for Assistance
The U.S. government is currently asking Ukraine to cease its attacks on Russian energy infrastructure and refineries. However, Zelensky has emphasized that he will only agree to this request if he receives more air defense missiles. This situation reflects the critical state of Ukraine, which is facing a severe shortage of air defense missiles, impacting the country's efforts to protect itself.
Moreover, reports indicate that Patriot air defense missiles have also become scarce globally, with other countries seeking to strengthen their defense systems. This situation has left Ukrainian citizens highly vulnerable to ongoing Russian attacks.
Zelensky, in an interview with Axios, has asked Trump to send a "winter emergency package" including 300 Patriot air defense missiles to Ukraine. He stressed that without these missiles, Ukraine would not be able to counter ballistic threats. This situation has heightened feelings of insecurity and concern among the people of Ukraine and underscores the necessity for international support for the country.
