The government of Donald Trump, the President of the United States, has faced serious challenges in its foreign policy in recent weeks. While Trump presents himself as a successful leader for America and the world at the most important diplomatic platform, new polls indicate a significant decline in support for his policies, especially regarding the war with Iran.
Decline in Support for Trump's Foreign Policy
Results from a new CNN poll show that only 29 percent of respondents support Trump's performance in foreign policy, which is the lowest level since the beginning of his second presidential term. Additionally, only 26 percent approve of his performance regarding the war with Iran, while a month ago this figure was 33 percent. Nearly two-thirds of participants believe that the U.S. is not winning this war, and 78 percent believe that Trump is not taking sufficient action to end the war.

Economic Concerns and Electoral Consequences
As the midterm elections approach, some Republican senators have called for an immediate end to the war with Iran. Media outlets attribute this shift in position to growing concerns about the economic costs of the war and rising fuel prices. In this context, Alyssa Farah Griffin, former White House communications director, criticized Trump for failing to clarify the war's objectives to the public and for addressing the issue weakly in his speech at the United Nations.
Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal pointed out that Trump's threats against the Islamic Republic of Iran, although they may initially seem impactful, could damage the credibility and trustworthiness of the U.S. government if not followed by practical action. This is while some Republicans, including Mike Rogers, Senate candidate from Michigan, and Ashley Hinson in Iowa, have explicitly called for an end to the war.
Given the current situation, it seems that Republicans are seeking to distance themselves from Trump's hawkish policies as the midterm elections approach, which could have profound effects on the election outcomes.
