The Islamic Consultative Assembly, as the legislative body and overseer of government performance, has recently faced serious criticisms from representatives of the people. Majid Nasirpour, the representative of Sarab, and Ahmad Beigdeli, the representative of Khodabandeh, emphasized in discussions that the Parliament's failure to perform its oversight and legislative duties has resulted in widespread dissatisfaction in society.
The Oversight Role of Parliament
Members of Parliament believe that they should better utilize their oversight power. Majid Nasirpour, referring to the economic and social problems faced by the people, stated: "The Parliament must be the voice of the people and be accountable to their dissatisfaction and concerns. If we do not pay attention to the people's problems, public trust in the Parliament will gradually decline."
On the other hand, Ahmad Beigdeli, criticizing the lack of attention to social priorities, added: "Many of today's societal problems stem from the Parliament's neglect of its oversight and legislative duties. As representatives of the people, we must be accountable to their demands and take action to solve problems."
Impact on People's Lives
This dissatisfaction is not limited to a specific part of society. Rather, it has shown its negative effects in many areas, including economic, social, and cultural issues. For example, rising prices, unemployment, and livelihood problems are among the issues that people are severely struggling with, and the Parliament, as the legislative body, must provide effective solutions to these problems.
Members of Parliament believe that to regain the trust of the people, it is necessary for the Parliament to address the fundamental problems of society away from distractions and to help improve people's living conditions by implementing appropriate laws. This will not only help improve the economic situation but can also lead to increased public trust in government institutions.
In this regard, representatives of the people in Parliament emphasized the necessity of holding regular meetings with the public and listening to their problems. These meetings can serve as a communication bridge between the people and representatives, providing a suitable opportunity to express the community's problems and concerns.
It seems that by adopting a responsive and transparent approach, the Parliament can address these dissatisfactions and regain the trust of the people once again. Otherwise, these dissatisfactions may lead to more serious crises that will harm not only the Parliament but the entire political system.
