Charles III, the King of Britain, expressed his appreciation for Oman's efforts to keep the Strait of Hormuz open while welcoming Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said at a grand official banquet held at Windsor Castle. Oman, as one of Britain's important partners in the Middle East and a neighbor of the Strait of Hormuz, has played a mediating role between Western countries and Iran in recent years.

Appreciation for Oman's Diplomacy

During the dinner banquet, the King of Britain highlighted Oman's commendable and valuable efforts to maintain one of the world's most important shipping routes, stating, "Oman's efforts in keeping the Strait of Hormuz open are commendable." He also referred to Oman's diplomatic mediation in the dispute with Iran, describing it as an effort to find "common grounds" for understanding between the parties.

The Sultan of Oman, in response to this appreciation, emphasized his country's commitment to finding diplomatic solutions, stating, "We believe in dialogue." These discussions take place amid rising tensions in the Middle East, with conflicts currently occurring, particularly regarding Iran.

Consequences of Tensions in the Middle East

Recent attacks by the U.S. and Israel on Iran, which resulted in the death of the leader of the Islamic Republic, have posed serious risks to the situation in the Strait of Hormuz. The Strait of Hormuz is one of the most vital shipping routes in the world, and its closure could have broader impacts on global trade and regional security. In this context, Oman, as a neutral country and mediator, is striving to create a bridge between the parties.

Queen Camilla, the wife of the King of Britain, along with Prince William and his wife, also attended the ceremony. This official banquet is the first major event at Windsor Castle during Andy Burnham's premiership. It is expected that in today's meeting between the Sultan of Oman and Mr. Burnham, an agreement will be signed to "accelerate mutual investment" between Oman and Britain, which will lead to attracting over one billion pounds in new investments.

During this visit, the accompanying delegation of the Sultan of Oman will also meet with representatives of the British business sector. This visit occurs amid sensitive conditions arising from tensions in the Middle East, and Oman bears a heavy responsibility as a key country in resolving these tensions.
