Technology diplomacy has become a necessity for Iran as a key tool in economic and social development, especially in the digital age. The Secretary of the Internationalization Specialized Committee of Science and Technology Parks emphasized the importance of redefining technology diplomacy and said: "International presence is valuable when it goes beyond mere visits, exhibitions, and memorandums of understanding, leading to the creation of sustainable and beneficial collaborations."
The Need for a Change in Approach
He noted that technology diplomacy should be designed not only to attract foreign investments but also to facilitate the transfer of knowledge and technology. This approach can strengthen the country's scientific and technical infrastructure and assist in the production of indigenous technologies.
The Secretary of the Internationalization Specialized Committee referred to the successful experiences of other countries in this field and highlighted the necessity of collaboration with universities, research centers, and domestic industrialists. He emphasized that creating a strong and sustainable innovation ecosystem requires synergy and cooperation among all stakeholders.
Challenges and Opportunities
Despite existing challenges such as sanctions and international restrictions, the Secretary of the Internationalization Specialized Committee believes that Iran can become an effective player in the global innovation arena by utilizing domestic capacities and international collaborations. He added: "We must seek to identify our opportunities and strengths and use them to create a national brand in the field of technology."
Furthermore, he pointed out the importance of holding international events and technology exhibitions, stating that these events can serve as a platform to showcase Iran's capabilities and attract foreign investors. Additionally, establishing innovation centers and startups in science and technology parks can facilitate this process.
Finally, the Secretary of the Internationalization Specialized Committee of Science and Technology Parks called on all governmental and private entities to collaborate in the country's technology diplomacy and contribute to creating an innovation ecosystem. He said: "We are all responsible for building a bright and sustainable future for the country through synergy and cooperation."
