Sina Asadbigi, the former Persepolis midfielder who is playing this season under Yahya Golmohammadi in Duhok, Iraq, spoke in an interview with an Iraqi media outlet about the bitter days of his time at Persepolis and how he left the team. He stated that his separation from Persepolis was so difficult for him that he cried on the way back home from practice.

The Feeling of Separation and Its Bitterness

Asadbigi, who spent three years at Persepolis and experienced three championships with the team, talked about the team that broke his heart, saying: "I separated from Persepolis at one point, and at another point, they didn’t even let me go to practice. I hadn’t said this anywhere, but on the way back from practice to home, it’s hard to say, but I was crying and really felt heartbroken. I never expected that incident and that treatment to happen to me."

Rumors and Offers

He explained why he hadn’t talked about this incident until now: "Honestly, Persepolis has been a team where I had good memories and won championships. I spent both bitter and sweet moments with it and dedicated three years of my life to it. I have three championships with this team and didn’t talk about it because I didn’t want to create rumors."

Asadbigi went on to share more details about the events at the beginning of that season, saying that despite having foreign offers, he was initially motivated by the club's discussions about continuing his collaboration with Persepolis: "I separated from Persepolis. When the training started and the new league began, I spoke with the club officials and asked about my situation. I had offers from the UAE, from good teams. I also had offers from several teams at the top of the table, but I went to the club, and they said you are an asset to the club."

He continued: "I trained with the team for two months, we went to Turkey, and at that time, the coach was Garido. At this level, when a coach sees a player kicking the ball next to him, he understands that he’s not useful. Just like Mehdi Abdi, my good friend, at that time the club didn’t want to work with him."

Asadbigi believes the club could have shared its decision with him from the beginning: "The club could have respected me and told me at the start of the season that the coach didn’t want you. This would have been much more understandable for me, and I could have dealt with it more easily."

He also talked about the timing of this decision: "There were only 24 hours left until the end of the transfer window when they called me at midnight. I went to the club and talked. They came back and said they didn’t want me. I said, well, if you don’t want me, why didn’t you say it sooner?"

In the end, Asadbigi discussed how the club communicated the news and Garido’s comments: "It had never happened before that a coach from Persepolis sat in front of the club’s camera and talked about the events of his own team. The next day, the club came and interviewed about the club’s situation and the team’s coach, and when it came to my turn, he said: Sina is a good player, but I didn’t want him."
