In the past 6 weeks, Russia has successfully constructed a large base for launching jet-engine drones in the Rostov region. This base, covering an area equivalent to 126 football fields, is designed as a new center for airstrikes, particularly against Ukraine. Available satellite images show that this base is rapidly nearing completion and will soon be added to the operational cycle of Russian forces.
Equipment and Facilities of the New Base
According to reports, the new base has eight launch pads equipped with launch rails capable of firing at targets. This equipment allows the launch of Geran-4 and Geran-5 drones, which are the latest models of Russian jet-engine drones. Mike Manik, founder and CEO of the private intelligence company DroneSec, emphasized that this base will be added to Russia's existing network, which includes at least 11 fixed drone launch sites for attacks on Ukraine.

Military Implications and Effects
The increased use of these types of drones, due to their high speed, reduces Ukraine's ability to intercept these attacks. Russian jet-engine drones can move at speeds of up to 600 kilometers per hour, giving them a significant advantage on the battlefield. Given the current state of the war in Ukraine, this new base could play an important role in Russia's military strategy and help enhance the country's offensive capabilities.
The construction of this base occurs at a time when the situation on the battlefronts is highly variable, with both sides seeking to strengthen their military capabilities. Given recent advancements in military technologies, there is a possibility that the war in Ukraine may shift towards greater use of more advanced technologies.
It seems that only a few weeks or even less remain until the full operational capability of this new base is achieved. While Ukrainian forces are trying to counter these threats, these developments could significantly impact the course of the war.
