Oston Oruonov, the beloved star of Persepolis, is on the verge of the end of his contract with the club, and evidence suggests that due to economic problems and the lack of agreement on contract renewal, his departure from the team is likely.
Brilliant Performance and Oruonov's Popularity
Oston Oruonov, who joined Persepolis in the winter of 2023, quickly found a special place in the hearts of the team's fans. His brilliant performance in the first half of the season not only helped Persepolis win the championship but also led many football spectators in Iran to think that his transfer to Persepolis caused Esteghlal's failure in that year's championship season.

However, the past two seasons have been filled with recurring injuries for Oruonov, causing him to miss many of Persepolis's matches. Despite these challenges, Oruonov's name is still heard as one of the most popular players in the stands.
Financial Challenges and Lack of Agreement
Peyman Hadadi, the CEO of Persepolis, stated regarding Oruonov's situation and the club's financial issues that Persepolis is facing serious challenges in attracting foreign players. Currency and economic problems resulting from the war have made it difficult for the club to easily acquire new players. According to Hadadi, Persepolis currently spends about four million dollars annually on foreign players.
Oston Oruonov is recognized as the most expensive foreign player of Persepolis, with his salary estimated at around one and a half million dollars per year. The club had hoped that with his brilliant performance in the World Cup, they would receive suitable offers for selling this player. Unfortunately, the not-so-successful performance of the Uzbekistan national team in this competition dashed those hopes.
Oruonov's Uncertain Future and Club Policies
Oruonov's contract ends at the conclusion of the current season, and a final decision regarding its renewal has yet to be made. While Persepolis has begun the process of renewing contracts with other players, Oruonov's situation remains shrouded in uncertainty. As the end of the season approaches, the pressure to make a decision on this matter increases.
Hadadi also noted that given the financial conditions, attracting new foreign players this winter and even next summer will not be feasible. This indicates a shift in the club's policies towards greater reliance on domestic players. It seems that the final decision regarding Oruonov will significantly impact the fate of this star, and the likelihood of his departure from Persepolis has greatly increased.
Currently, Persepolis must carefully assess Oruonov's situation and make a decision that aligns with the economic and technical conditions. The closer we get to the end of the season, the greater the risk of losing this valuable player becomes, and the club must confront this major challenge.
