Persepolis, one of the largest football clubs in Iran, has recently moved towards changing its transfer policies. Peyman Hadadi, the CEO of the club, has discussed a new plan in which selling young players is considered the primary goal of acquiring them. Pourya Shahabadi, a 21-year-old striker who joined Persepolis from Gol Gohar, is the first name mentioned in this regard.

Financial Agreement and Four-Year Contract

Shahabadi was one of Persepolis's expensive summer signings. Gol Gohar initially requested one million dollars for his release letter, but ultimately an agreement was reached for 120 billion tomans in two installments along with the transfer of Soheil Sahraei. Persepolis also signed a four-year contract with this striker to utilize his technical abilities while having enough opportunity for his potential sale in the future.

Change in Transfer Approach

This investment is not limited to the acquisition of Shahabadi, as Mehdi Zarei, a 23-year-old defender, has also joined Persepolis for 900 thousand dollars from Akhmat Grozny. The total cost of these two contracts amounts to about 700 billion tomans. Notably, Gol Gohar and Akhmat will not have a share in the future transfers of these two players, allowing Persepolis to invest in increasing the players' value by accepting high initial costs.

Hadadi, referring to his future plans, said: "We are moving towards making the club self-sustaining. In football, championships do not provide any cash returns for clubs, and we must generate income through player sales." He also added that other young players such as Pourya Latififar and Danial Eiri are included in this plan, with the overall goal of strengthening the team and generating income through the sale of young players.

Player Identification and Development Cycle

Hadadi referred to the cycle that the club intends to implement, stating: "This cycle includes identifying players from rival teams and academies, who after a year of playing at Persepolis, will be called up to the national team, and then revenue will be generated through their sales." He also announced the establishment of a scouting department in the club, responsible for identifying talented players.

It seems that Persepolis, with this new approach, aims to become a profitable club in the near future, where young players can achieve personal flourishing alongside team successes. Now we must wait and see if Pourya Shahabadi will be sold as the first fruit of this new policy at the end of the season.
