Parviz Sarvari, the Vice President of the Islamic Council of Tehran, announced that the city management is working to increase the metro fleet capacity by boosting domestic production of cars and also purchasing new cars from China. This decision was made in response to the anticipated increase in metro usage by citizens following the rise in gasoline prices.
Efforts for Domestic Production of Metro Cars
Sarvari stated: "On the domestic front, we have mobilized all the country's capacities, and organizations that had previously halted their activities have been reactivated. These organizations are now producing national cars in two and three shifts." He added that so far, two sets of domestically produced cars have entered the line, and it is hoped that national products will be added to the metro fleet throughout this year.

Purchase of Chinese Cars and Existing Challenges
Sarvari also pointed to the impact of the war situation on the production and supply of cars, stating that these conditions have caused delays in processes. He said: "Our friends are working around the clock to fill this gap, and in addition to domestic capacity, a large contract for purchasing cars from China has also been signed. According to this contract, a significant number of cars have been purchased."
He continued that the implementation process of this contract has been prolonged due to the specific conditions of the war, and the first set of Chinese cars, which were supposed to be loaded before the war began, has been delayed due to the blockage of maritime routes. However, Sarvari noted that alternative routes for importing these cars are being explored, and some successes have been achieved in this regard.
The main goal of the city management is to increase domestic production and the entry of purchased cars to respond to the rising demand for travel among citizens. Parviz Sarvari emphasized that with the increase in production and the arrival of these cars, they hope to provide better services to citizens and improve public transportation conditions.
