Mohsen Hormizi, the Deputy of Transportation and Traffic of Tehran's Mayor, announced in a recent session of the Tehran City Council the opening of the second entrance to the Book Square and Chahardan Dolab metro stations. This action, along with the operation of three new parking lots, heralds the development of transportation infrastructure in the capital aimed at facilitating citizens' commuting.

Development of metro lines and new projects

Hormizi further referred to the status of the public transportation fleet and stated: At the end of the fourth term of urban management, four thousand buses were added to the fleet, but at the beginning of the current term, this number had decreased to 860. Nevertheless, significant efforts have been made during this term to improve the fleet's status and develop metro lines.

He also announced the completion of the seven metro lines and the opening of the interchange station of 17 Shahrivar on Line 6, emphasizing that the Parand metro, which had been left unfinished in previous terms, has now been completed. The Eastern Terminal and Azadegan Terminal projects are also underway, demonstrating a serious commitment to improving infrastructure.

Operation of the Hazrat Abdolazim (AS) shrine station

Hormizi also announced the imminent operation of the Hazrat Abdolazim Hasani (AS) shrine station, stating: This station has unique architectural features and will soon be operational. Given the proximity of this station to the shrine, its design has been carried out in a way that aligns with the environment and local culture.

The Deputy of Transportation and Traffic of Tehran's Mayor continued: In addition to the second entrance of the Book Square and Chahardan Dolab stations, a new entrance for the Zain al-Din and Khwaja Abdullah Ansari stations will also be operational soon. These actions, along with facilitating access to metro stations, can positively impact the quality of life for citizens.

Parking development plans and fleet renewal

Hormizi also referred to the development of parking lots, stating: By the end of the year, three new parking lots in the Niayesh, Javadiyeh, and Etemad areas will be operational. Additionally, the renewal of the bus fleet is ongoing, and so far, two thousand and five hundred new buses have been added to the city of Tehran.

He concluded by emphasizing the need to support domestic production in the field of wagon manufacturing, noting that despite challenges, this organization is now ready for domestic production. Also, given the transportation issues arising from the wartime conditions in the country, efforts to secure new wagons continue.
