NASA has released a collection of new images capturing 16 amazing galaxies. These images display the beauty and dynamism of galaxies while serving as valuable scientific tools for a better understanding of the past and future of the Milky Way galaxy.

Data Combination from Various Observatories

This collection is created by combining data from the Chandra X-ray Observatory and telescopes such as James Webb and Hubble. Each of these telescopes examines different parts of the universe, and this combination allows scientists to study phenomena that cannot be observed in a single wavelength.

For example, X-ray data can reveal very hot and energetic gases, while James Webb's infrared observations focus on dusty regions and star formation. Additionally, Hubble's images provide important information about the structure of galaxies.

High-Energy Outbursts and Their Impact on Galaxies

One of the prominent phenomena in these images is the high-energy outbursts associated with black holes. These cosmic entities can influence their surroundings and, under certain conditions, eject streams of particles and energy over vast distances. Studying these outbursts is of great importance to astronomers, as black hole activity can affect the gas present in galaxies and alter the conditions for new star formation.

This collection also showcases significant differences among galaxies. The galaxy NGC 1569 is an example of environments where intense star formation periods have occurred. In contrast, the galaxy NGC 660 has a structure known as a "polar ring" that positions stars and gas in a direction different from the main plane of the galaxy.

The Messier 90 galaxy also represents the impact of the cosmic environment on the evolution of galaxies, as it loses some of the gas needed for new star formation while moving through the Virgo galaxy cluster.

The goal of releasing such collections is not merely to display beautiful images. By comparing different galaxies, scientists can investigate the roles of gravity, black hole activity, stellar explosions, and interactions among galaxies in their evolution. These studies contribute to a better understanding of the history of the Milky Way galaxy and provide valuable clues about the past stages of our own galaxy's evolution.
