Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, shook early Tuesday morning with the sound of massive explosions. These explosions were the result of attacks reportedly carried out by armed forces from Yemen, targeting the Al-Masfah neighborhood in southern Riyadh, where Aramco oil refineries are located.
Suspension of activities at Riyadh International Airport
Alongside these explosions, flight data indicates that activities at Riyadh International Airport have been suspended due to these attacks, and several aircraft were unable to land in the city due to adverse conditions. A reporter from Agence France-Presse present in Riyadh also confirmed that the sound of the explosions was indeed massive, creating a sense of insecurity among residents.

Special operations by Yemeni armed forces
Minutes before the explosions, Major General Yahya Saree, spokesperson for the Yemeni armed forces, announced that these operations included three special attacks on multiple targets in Saudi Arabia. King Khalid Airport in Riyadh, Aramco facilities, and other sensitive positions in Najran and Jizan were among the targets hit in these attacks. These attacks are described as part of Yemen's military operations against Saudi Arabia.
Missile attacks on Riyadh and other parts of Saudi Arabia have increased in recent months, raising significant concerns internationally. These attacks not only affect Saudi Arabia's internal security but could also impact the economic and political situation of the country, especially as Saudi Arabia is trying to improve international relations and attract foreign investments.
Security and economic implications
These attacks could lead to increased tensions in the region and jeopardize security stability in Saudi Arabia. Given that Saudi Arabia is one of the largest oil producers in the world, any disruption in the country’s oil activities could have widespread effects on global oil prices and the economies of oil-dependent countries.
As residents of Riyadh seek safer shelters following these explosions, analysts believe that this event could exacerbate tensions between Saudi Arabia and Yemen as well as other regional players. These attacks clearly reflect the ongoing war and unrest in Yemen and its impacts on neighboring countries.
