The Necessity of Diversity in War Narratives
Dehghani emphasized that addressing war from only one specific angle cannot sufficiently expand the space of resistance cinema. She added: "We need to see and narrate war from various windows. I hope that in the future, the new generation of filmmakers can make this happen." These statements reflect the necessity for diversity in cinematic narratives and the expansion of viewpoints on topics such as war and resistance.
The Role of Women in Resistance Cinema
Mahiya Dehghani, continuing her remarks, referred to the position of women in resistance cinema and how their roles are addressed. As a judge of the festival, she expressed concern over the forgetting of women in war narratives and emphasized: "We see the influence of men in war-related narratives, but the question is, where are the women and what is their role and influence in these narratives?"
This actress highlighted the importance of visibility for women in cinema as well as in various festivals and called for greater attention from filmmakers and screenwriters to the role and influence of women in cinematic works.
