Mahdi Kharashadi Zadeh, the head of the Commission on Statutes and Educational Regulations of the Supreme Council of Education, recently provided new details about the pathways for students and graduates of the second cycle of secondary education to higher education. According to his statements, students can use three methods to enter university and continue their studies, each with its own specific conditions.

First Path: Entry Through Technical and Vocational Branch

The first path is specifically for students from the technical and vocational branch. This group of students graduates at the end of the second cycle of secondary education without taking final exams. In these branches, subjects are assessed internally, and students receive a diploma after completing the course.

Kharashadi Zadeh stated that these individuals have the opportunity to participate in the specialized exam related to the technical and vocational branch, and through this, they can enter the associate degree program and then continue their studies at the bachelor's level and higher.

Second Path: Participation in the National Exam

The second path is for those who intend to participate in the national exam (Konkur). In this case, it does not matter which branch the individual has studied; if they intend to participate in the national exam, they must create an academic background for their desired test group.

Kharashadi Zadeh explained that students who receive diplomas in experimental, mathematical, humanities, or Islamic studies fields create a relevant academic background for themselves due to participating in final exams. However, for students from technical and vocational branches who do not have final exams, no academic background related to the national exam is created.

The head of the Commission on Statutes and Educational Regulations of the Supreme Council of Education emphasized that graduates of technical and vocational fields must first create an academic background for their desired test group if they wish to enter universities through the national exam.

Third Path: Admission Based on Diploma Average

The third path to enter higher education institutions is through the condition of diploma average. In this method, it does not matter which branch the individual has studied. They can register at higher education institutions that accept students in some fields without the national exam. These institutions include Islamic Azad University, Payame Noor University, and the University of Applied Science and Technology.

Kharashadi Zadeh stated that in this method, there is also no need to create an academic background for participating in the national exam, and the criterion for admission will be the individual's diploma average.

These changes in the pathways to university can create more opportunities for students and graduates, allowing them to pursue their educational and career dreams without worrying about deficiencies in their academic background.
