Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, was welcomed by Sheikh Mishal Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Emir of Kuwait, upon his arrival in Kuwait. This trip, taking place from October 19 to 21 (27 to 29 Mehr), includes visits to Kuwait, the UAE, Bahrain, and Qatar, occurring at a time when the Persian Gulf region is heavily impacted by the consequences of U.S. and Israeli aggression against Iran.

The Purpose of Macron's Trip and Diplomatic Consultations

The Élysée Palace had previously announced that the purpose of Macron's trip is to continue his consultations with the leaders of the Gulf countries to restore stability and ensure freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. This strait, one of the most vital transit passages for oil and gas in the world, has faced serious instability in recent months.

The Élysée statement also emphasized that one of the key objectives of this trip is to strengthen strategic and economic partnerships between France and the Gulf countries. This reflects Macron's efforts to establish closer relations with Arab countries and improve the economic and political situation in the region.

Consequences of Aggression and Security Threats

Macron's visit to the Persian Gulf comes at a time when the region has been grappling with the repercussions of U.S. and Israeli aggression against Iran for about eight months. This confrontation, which began on February 28 of last year (March 9, 1404), has led to instability in navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and raised serious concerns regarding the security of this passage.

In this context, Macron seeks to reduce existing tensions by strengthening economic and security relations and to help create stability in the region. This trip could also serve as an opportunity for France to position itself as a key player in the Middle East while assuring the Gulf countries that they can count on France's diplomatic and economic support.
