Kim Jong-sik, the First Deputy Chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, strongly criticized the recent joint exercises of the US and South Korea, held under the title "Iron Hammer." This drill, which took place from September 29 to October 2 in Seoul, was designed to synchronize South Korea's conventional military capabilities with the nuclear capabilities of the United States.

Military Threats and Strengthening Nuclear Capabilities

Kim Jong-sik described this exercise as the "most hateful nuclear war drill" and emphasized that this action once again demonstrates the necessity of strengthening Pyongyang's nuclear forces. He stated that in light of military threats, enhancing North Korea's nuclear capabilities against these threats is an unchangeable policy. According to him, Pyongyang's nuclear forces are fully capable of countering such threats.

Condemnation of Joint Exercises

The First Deputy Chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea condemned not only the "Iron Hammer" exercise but also other joint drills of the US and South Korea, including "Hoguk" and "Freedom Shield." He also considered the joint exercise of the US and Japan titled "Sharp Sword" as part of the escalation of military actions by Pyongyang's enemies. He explicitly stated that Pyongyang's enemies have increased these military actions both openly and secretly.

Kim further emphasized the importance of maintaining nuclear deterrence, stating: "Reality once again teaches us the fundamental truth that power is peace, and peace is only guaranteed through power." He also expressed that Pyongyang will continue to rapidly strengthen its nuclear capabilities to preserve the sovereignty and national security of the country and regional peace.

These remarks come as tensions on the Korean Peninsula have increasingly escalated, and international concerns about North Korea's military capabilities are also rising. The strong reactions of Pyongyang officials to the military drills of the US and South Korea indicate that the country is seriously considering its national security and responds to any threats with severe military reactions.
