Iran's men's and women's national paddle teams were unable to participate in the World Cup qualifiers due to the lack of cooperation from Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior officials in issuing visas. Despite efforts made by the Ministry of Sports and Youth, the National Olympic Committee, the Tennis Federation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Iranian Embassy, these efforts did not yield results, and our national athletes were deprived of this historic opportunity.

Hosting Challenges and the Need for Fairness in Sports

A statement released by the Iranian Tennis Federation has highlighted the necessity of ensuring fairness in hosting sports events. The statement emphasizes that the host of a sports event is obligated to provide equal and fair opportunities for all eligible teams. The question arises as to why the International Paddle Federation assigns the hosting of an international competition to a country that refuses to issue visas for national teams or is unable to do so in a timely manner.

Consequences of Disqualification for Iranian Athletes

Iranian athletes who have trained diligently for months are now barred from participating in these competitions due to reasons beyond their control. This is while paddle sports in Iran have achieved third and fourth places in the Asian Games and are recognized as serious contenders for World Cup qualification. The Iranian Tennis Federation, as the governing body of this sport, emphasizes its legitimate rights and demands compensation for this disqualification.

Now, the Iranian Tennis Federation has requested that, given the inability of Iran's national teams to participate in the competitions in Kuwait, measures be taken to compensate for this disqualification. They are seeking an equal opportunity that Iranian athletes have been deprived of due to reasons beyond their control.

The Federation's proposal is to consider special wild cards for the direct participation of both the men's and women's national paddle teams of Iran in the 2026 World Paddle Championship in Qatar. This action could provide an opportunity to compensate for this disqualification and ensure the participation of Iranian athletes in international competitions.
