Iran achieved a significant military success by targeting U.S. long-range radars. This operation focused particularly on the FPS-132 and AN/TPY-2 radars, which are known as the main eyes of the United States air defense network. These radars, with ranges of 3,000 to 5,000 kilometers and 1,300 kilometers respectively, play a key role in detecting missile threats and providing necessary information for defense systems.

Impacts on the U.S. Early Warning Network

The removal of these radars from operational status severely affects the ability to accurately detect and track THAAD systems. These advanced systems rely on these radars for information transfer and threat identification. With these radars down, even the best defense systems may respond with delays and struggle to identify targets.

According to available information, the FPS-132 radar stationed in the Dukhan region of Qatar has been targeted by Iranian drone and missile attacks. This radar is responsible for identifying threats and providing information for the defense network, and damage to it could create gaps in the radar coverage of the region. These gaps could easily facilitate the passage of Iranian missiles and drones towards U.S. bases and sensitive centers.

New Challenges Ahead for the U.S.

Damage to U.S. long-range radars not only means reduced opportunities for self-defense but also negatively impacts the prediction and identification of threats. Currently, the security situation in the region is seriously affected by these developments, and significant changes in U.S. defensive and military strategies are likely to be expected.

Damage to these radars could lead to a significant reduction in the defensive capabilities of the United States and create new challenges for the country in dealing with regional threats. These developments will impact not only the security of the U.S. but also that of its allies.
