The International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB) officially announced today that the Iranian bodybuilding federation and Mojtaba Maleki, the new president of this federation, have been suspended due to significant irregularities in the recent elections. These elections were held on August 10 of this year, and Mojtaba Maleki was elected as president, but less than 40 days later, IFBB raised serious objections to the conduct of these elections in a letter to the National Olympic Committee of Iran.
Suspension of the Iran Federation and Its Consequences
In the letter sent by IFBB to the National Olympic Committee, it is explicitly stated that "candidates did not have equal opportunities to participate in the elections," which has severely impacted the credibility of the elections. The letter also mentions Abdolmahdi Nasirzadeh, the former president of the Iran Federation and a current member of the IFBB Executive Committee, stating that he has been deprived of his voting rights due to issues arising in the electoral process. Consequently, IFBB emphasized that "the recent elections and Mojtaba Maleki as the president of the National Federation of Iran are not recognized."

Impact on Iranian Athletes and Coaches
Given the suspension of the Iran Federation, this international body has announced that the suspension does not include Iranian athletes, coaches, referees, and officials. These individuals can still participate in official IFBB competitions and events, provided they manage their registration and participation through two members of the IFBB Executive Committee in Iran, namely Abdolmahdi Nasirzadeh and Sadegh Hashemi. This means that Iranian athletes can still be present on international stages, but this situation is somewhat ambiguous and challenging.
Now the question arises as to how the Ministry of Sports and Youth, the Iran Federation, and the National Olympic Committee will react to this news. Will these bodies be able to resolve the issues and restore the credibility of the Iranian bodybuilding federation? Or will this crisis continue in some form and have further negative impacts on athletes and sporting events in Iran?
