Hurricane Isaias reached Florida late Friday with winds of about 168 kilometers per hour, causing significant damage. Following the storm, at least four people lost their lives, and hundreds of thousands in various states faced power outages.
Casualties and Damage
Officials have reported the deaths of two people in Florida and two in Alabama. In one case, a woman was killed when a tree fell on her house. Joey Williams, who had stepped out of his home with his wife to assess the damage, returned to find a horrifying scene. A tree had fallen on their roof, and in this incident, his wife lost her life.

In fact, another victim died from carbon monoxide poisoning. This man had turned on a generator in a poorly ventilated garage, and four other residents of the same house were taken to the hospital.
Emergency Situation and Rescue Efforts
Due to the severity of the storm, officials in Alabama, Florida, and Georgia declared a state of emergency and ordered thousands to evacuate. In Escambia County, Florida, National Guard forces had to rescue individuals whose vehicles were trapped in floodwaters. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis described the conditions as "very dangerous" and warned of the potential for flooding.
In Alabama, a sheriff was injured while responding to an accident caused by a fallen tree. Kay Ivey, the Governor of Alabama, reported the deaths of two people in the state and warned of the risk of tornadoes due to strong winds and heavy rainfall.
In Charleston, South Carolina, officials have urged residents not to leave their homes on Saturday night, as water levels are expected to reach about 2/3 of a meter. They warned that in the dark, it would be very difficult to determine the depth of the flowing waters.
Currently, Hurricane Isaias is moving northeast across the United States and is expected to weaken further. However, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has warned that parts of Georgia and South Carolina may face rainfall of up to 25 centimeters and flooding.
