Heavy rains are severely occurring in the provinces of South Khorasan and Sistan and Baluchestan, and the country's meteorological organization has issued warnings in this regard. These rains are such that experts have issued orange-level weather warnings, and this situation could lead to flooding, the overflow of seasonal rivers, and waterlogging of roads.

Risks Associated with the Rains

Heavy rains bring many hazards with them. Flooding, river overflow, and disruption of transportation are among these dangers. Additionally, slippery roads, reduced visibility, temporary strong winds, and the possibility of breaking old trees are other consequences of these rains. Kobra Rafiei, an expert from the meteorological organization, said: “For the coming days, rain showers, thunder, and strong winds are predicted in susceptible areas.”

A New Rain Wave is on the Way

According to forecasts, a new wave of rainfall will enter the country on Thursday, starting the rains in the western half of the country. These rains will initially cover the provinces of West Azerbaijan, Kurdistan, Kermanshah, Ilam, and Lorestan. A drop in temperature is also expected in these areas. On Friday, rain is predicted in the northwest, west, southwest, parts of the south, northeast, and coastal provinces of the Caspian Sea.

Alongside these rains, the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz are also experiencing rough and turbulent weather. Increased wind speed and wave height in the coastal areas of Khuzestan province are accompanied by an orange-level marine weather warning, and this situation could harm swimmers and small boats. Under these conditions, it is recommended to prevent swimming and limit the movement of light boats.

In Tehran, scattered showers, thunder, and temporary strong winds are expected at certain hours. From Thursday afternoon, the activity of a new rainfall system will begin in the capital. It is predicted that the average temperature in the country in the past week has increased by ١.٣ degrees Celsius compared to the long-term period. The highest temperature increase has been reported in the provinces of Gilan and Khuzestan.
