On the thirty-third anniversary of the signing of the Oslo Agreement, the head of Hamas's National Relations Department harshly criticized the performance of this agreement, deeming it a factor in deepening the occupation of Palestinian territories. He emphasized that this agreement, instead of providing the grounds for freedom and independence for the Palestinian people, has led to the continuation and expansion of settlement policies and human rights violations.
The Oslo Agreement; Unfulfilled Promises
This senior Hamas member, referring to the initial promises made in the Oslo Agreement, said: “At that time, we hoped that by signing this agreement, a new path towards freedom and independence would open, but the bitter realities before us show that this agreement has merely become a tool for continuing the occupation.”
He also criticized Israel's policies, stating that instead of respecting the rights of Palestinians, the country continues to expand settlements and suppress the people. This issue has caused widespread dissatisfaction among Palestinians, and in his opinion, this dissatisfaction should become the loud voice of the international community.
An Uncertain Future for Palestinians
Furthermore, the head of Hamas's National Relations Department referred to the current situation of Palestinians and the challenges they face, saying: “We must continue to fight with greater unity and solidarity and never allow empty promises to divert us from our main goal.” He emphasized the need to strengthen international support for the rights of Palestinians and called for serious actions from the international community to end the occupation and realize the rights of the Palestinian people.
